英國ITV開始根據英國女作家Val McDermid的破案小說Dr.Tony Hill中的故事"Mermaids Singing"和"Shadows Rising"改編的英國懸疑破案劇集。之後又由其他人續寫，後來在第四季度第二集"Torment"又改編自Val McDermid的Dr.Tony Hill中的故事"The Torment of Others"。
